Lan

Hello all!

Up to now, I created 4 toons. You've met me under Lan, my first and main character in Rappelz.

• LanMandragoran is now Soldier. I try to keep him around the same level as Roxelane, my wife's main. We usually try to play together, but I sometimes solo to reach some farming or pet training objectives.
  
  
• ElyasMacheras is a Sorcerer. As he's my Ursa alt, and stays in the 20-34 instance. He duos with Dorilis with the objective of getting the Koala one day. Feel free to join us... the more we are, the faster we do
  
  
• PerinAybara is a Fighter that took the Archer path. You may meet him with his summoned wolf somewhere in Rappelz, or most probably, with his Harpy FaileBashere.
  
  
• ZeddicusZorander is a Chaos Magician. I initially wanted to use him to solo Ursa and make 6k all by myself just for the chalenge, but ended up liking the class so much that i decided to keep him and not delevel him.

For those of you who noted, yes, I'm a Wheel of Time fan, but not a crazy one. And, yes, I've met Nynaeve, she's a R5 Knight that used to have a few alts in "Healers".

I also got two other toons in waiting. I plan to evolve them to Assasin (MatrimCauton) and Druid (BelgarionRiva).

Sorry Healers... Sorry KHers...

We are sorry for being less present for all of you in the last few days. Some of you may know already, or may have guessed, but Rox and me recently had some bad news and we are just trying to absorb it all. Yes, Lan currently has 5000 stamina, and that's not normal for him Sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long.

For those who don't know it, I'm facing cancer for the third time in my life. I've been having chemotherapy for the last 16 months. The rebuilding of Healers (that guild was dead when it was given to Lan last summer) and the creation of KH was, and still is, of great support to us, seeing you so happy about what was put together.

News have always been good up until now. Those last news hit hard, even if not as hard as 16 months ago. We had to step back a bit to gather the strenght for us to keep on fighting for life. We will be more active soon, stonger than before.

Keep on having fun. Rappelz is a game. Make some great dps. Make KH grow. Keep Healers big. We'll soon jump back in the fun.

Is there anything i can do to help to, if there is plz ask away, dont let all the in game troubles bother u as u have friends in here who care for u and pray for ur health, so hang in there Lan, be strong, we all belive in u!

no need to say sorry! we are your mates....and you and rox are family. you know me i will help you guys out till my stamina goes, so if you need anything at all, just shout, and i will come running love you both, only wish i could help in RL but game help is all i can do.

You (means Lan & Rox) made a really nice result with all the effort you put in the guild(s). Way to go!

To face the truth, it must be awefull to hear suchs news, and it will have tremendous impact on your life.
Please don't apologise for this!

In Netherlands there's a saying that tells you the third time it will actually work; "driemaal is scheepsrecht".
I believe it's called "Third time lucky" in english, so let's pray for that.

I'm not very familiar with WoT.. but I find really interesting that both LanMandragoran and ElyasMacheras are mostly greek words :

In greek, 'Mandragoras' means Mandrake (Root), the plant
(if you split this word, come Mandra and Agora. Mandra is a place people used to keep for animals (sheep etc), but also is referred to us a place for selling cars etc. Agora is the market (forum in latin).
but possibly mandragoras itself doesn't have to do with those words (unless it was sold in 'mandras' and 'agoras' in the past lol), i haven't researched it)

Also, Elyas is the greek version of the name Eliah or Elijah
And Macheras comes from 'macheri' which means knife in our language. Macheras is the person who carries/uses knives..

In general, I love words, how they adopt their meanings and backgrounds.. So I thought i would share this info.

You know what Veg... You probably got all that right Authors (and Robert Jordan in particular) tend to like doing that kind of things.

Mandragoras/Mandrake is very fitting to Lan's character, both in the book, and for me in Rappelz.

Funny that Elyas is the greek of Elijah... my PC is named just that from Azimov's robots serie (and I usually also use that name for my characters names in solo games i play) Macheras is also fitting to the character in the book.

I've had quite some trouble sleeping this week, and as Lan is in chemo as well, it's been pretty hard to help and support each others. As it happen to be us GL of 2 guilds this week, I'm really sorry that TAs didn't take place as often as they should have. I hope to be better soon enough.

Rox, don't worry. We all have rl stuff to tend to, and family takes priority, though I luv u all as family. I can put an announcement up that I'll try a healers ta if i can get enough together for today. Actually, I'll give it a post here then put it up for let's say, 5-6 est this evening.

Hello everyone!

I have been unable to play for nearly 2 weeks except once or twice for like 1h or so...

Lan has been very exhausted lately, so I have had to do lots of things in house, plus driver for all his medical appointments. I hope to be able to play again this weekend, and in the worse case, next week.

I miss you all a lot, feels like I've been away for ages!!! I came on GSC today, just to hear about everyone, how things are going and so forth! It's nice to know that all is well with the guilds and guildies.

Take care, but you better be back soon and ready to level. Otherwise my bish is gonna pass you. Although my computer fell off the elecronic-damage-inducing equivalent of the burj khalifa and is trashed so I can't play rappelz until I get a new one.

Hum, I've been wondering for few days if I should post something about our current situation...

But as there's been some akward conversations around, I thought it might be better.

So, as some of you already know, Lan has been fighting a cancer for 5 years now, and metastasis for the last 2, including some quite important in both lungs.

This Wednesday, he had a puncture to the right lung, so they took out 1L of liquid and I get another 500ml on a daily basis since, through the drain they put in place.

The week as been especially hard, as you can guess, and even though he's been playing some more, I didn't do much, as taking care of him, his medicines, our daugther plus the house is quite demanding.

Some of you kept saying that real life is more important, but I want to say here that you all have been a wonderful support for us, and I need the community we've built here to keep me sane! So I want to thank all of you for the energy and the moral you give us. I certainly don't forget you, and I hope you don't forget me!

only one thing to say... we are family, and we all take care of each other, both in game, AND in real life. THAT is what makes us so strong.

Friends and family don't prove themselves through easy and fun times. That's the easy part...

Friends and family prove themselves when there are tests, challenges, difficult situations..
And within a family, all of its members feel the same pain and share it when another member aches.
